Hello, my name is Michael Mulligan and as many of you will know by now I am the Venue Manager for the Church for the three weeks in August when the Edinburgh Festival Fringe descends on the city. Once again, this year Ross is our in-house daily Venue Manager and, as ever, he will take very good care of the performers and also of all the fantastic members of the congregation that volunteer to help.
The past few months have seen me programming the various groups and artists that will visit us in August, some old favourites and some very new ones. I hope you will take the time to volunteer or perhaps come along and see some of the shows.
Returning to us this year will be Richard Michael with his fantastic piano shows as well as the great fun troupe Interrupt The Routine performing 'The Gin Chronicles', their spoof take on an old-fashioned radio programme. Lawrence Dunn will have his two performances of silent movies where he and his group accompany them with live music.
Sheena Jardine with classical violin and Sadie Maskery with traditional folk tunes as well as Alasdair Cameron on piano all come back again this year.
New performers will include Alison Thorman with opera highlights and Virginia Warbrick and her husband coming all the way from New Zealand with amazing native songs and tunes.
Full details of the programme will be in the Fringe Programme published in early June.
I look forward to another great year at St Mark's and would like to thank everyone at the Church for their support, especially Ann Sinclair.
Come along and see a show!
(Please speak to Ann Sinclair, if you can spare some time to volunteer).
