Community of Unitarians: an intergenerational gathering

Community of Unitarians an intergenerational gathering Photograph by Sue Tombs Our national General Assembly meetings were held from 30 March to 2 April, at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole. Many of us attended from Edinburgh, and we were delighted that a number of our group were singing in the Anniversary Choir.

There were many highlights during the meetings. With well over thirty sessions to choose from, excluding the business meetings, it was necessary to be selective.

In the upcoming posts we will publish impressions from nine of us who attended the meetings. It is difficult to describe the very special atmosphere of a GA, but our reflections should give you a flavour. Among several highlights is the photograph of Rev John Clifford and Derek McAuley with Tehmina Kazi, the Director of British Muslims for Secular Democracy, who was this year’s Keynote Speaker.  Another gem is the image of John Clifford welcoming Dot Hewerdine as the GA President for 2016. We also have images of two publications which provide a fitting record. First the order of service of the Anniversary Service, which was a most uplifting occasion, led by Rev Alex Bradley. Second, the GA Zette, an excellent publication produced five times a day, which is no mean feat, over the three days, by a group of young people.
